Beschrijving
Clean, effervescent, and unmistakably crisp, Cologne One is an ode to freshness. The fragrance
lives almost entirely in its top notes: juniper evokes the aromatic bite of gin, lifted by lime and bright
citrus. Bergamot and mandarin add a touch of spikiness, while the barest expression of ginger
introduces the warmth of spice. Cucumber enhances the opposing sensation of coolness.
The heart remains deliberately restrained. Iris, rose, and hedione provide a quiet structural layer,
allowing the brightness of juniper and citrus to inger without distraction.
The dry down is linear and surprisingly serene: Ambroxan, Iso E Super, and a soft trace of musk.
Smooth, modern, and unobtrusive, it doesn’t shout – it doesn’t need to – but instead leaves a subtle
impression of cleanliness and ease on the skin. Cologne One reflects Escentric Molecules’ distinct
approach to perfumery, stripping fragrance back to its bones and rethinking familiar forms through
a contemporary lens. “I created my first gin and tonic fragrance 25 years ago. Now, I’ve made it
even better, even more valuable in what it offers”, says perfumer Geza Schoen. Created at a
15% concentration, it pushes the concept of a cologne to the extreme with a lasting sensation
of freshness without the heaviness
“ The packaging for Cologne One
freshness you get with a gin and reflects the fragrance’s effervescent tonic. Nothing pretentious. With a
energy. Since it stands alone in the scent like Cologne One, it’s more range, a distinct, standout packaging
about what you leave out than what approach was essential. We are still you put in. Juniper gives it that burst
playing with the notion of of herbal freshness while the dry synaesthesia and how to visually
down is very linear, a little musk, represent the experience of scent.” Ambroxan, Iso E Super, just enough
to carry the freshness through.”
Geza Schoen, Perfumer
“
We started with the idea of effervescence: circles, dots, structures, and patterns that could represent
that effervescent energy, and quickly started to look – in a typical EM way – to systemise it.
Cologne is very much a summer fragrance, and we were fascinated by how light comes into play
in that effect. It’s sunlight, it’s light reflecting on water, light reflecting on swimming pools, it’s this
idea of rings and patterns and energy. This led to a packaging concept that explored
light passing through the outer layer via die-cut holes, and then looked at how the inside of the
packaging could deliver that playful experience through an optimistic, colourful, effervescent, and
energetic interior. We explored how the packaging’s exterior and
nterior interact to deliver the overall sensory message. In the development stage, we recognised a youthful energy and leaned very
heavily into it, particularly in the colours we used and the end result.”

wearable, and a truly minimalist expression of freshness.
